Winter sports in the Zillertal

The majestic mountain scenery of the Zillertal could have only been created for unlimited winter sport. An approximately 400 km network of extremely well-cared for winter hiking paths, wonderful routes for ski tours, guided hikes and illuminated routes through the snowy valley send hearts beating faster. Escape your hectic everyday life among sparkling ice crystals, snow-covered fir branches and blazing sunshine, and lose yourself in a magical winter landscape. For example, directly from our hotel you can book your own personal horse-drawn carriage ride.

Ice skating in the Zillertal is fun for everyone. The selection of ice rinks in the Zillertal’s premier holiday region is wide. Whether with natural ice or artificial ice, fun is simply guaranteed.

16 toboggan runs with a total length of 45 km are available in the Zillertal for fun on two runners. Dynamic descents, steep curves, bumps and demanding slide sections make toboggan adventures an unforgettable experience both day and night. Toboggans can also be hired locally.

Sporting activities in a natural setting – Cross-country skiing clears the head and is good for the whole body. Fans of cross-country skiing can get to know the Zillertal with a tour on the dedicated trail. The expansive area with 200 kilometres of cross-country ski trail is suited both to beginners and more skilful skiers. So why not take a leisurely glide through the flat valley and enjoy nature in all its beauty.

The ski resort Kaltenbach - Hochzillertal / Hochfügen (SKi-optimal) is the best ski resort in the Zillertal for 2017. With 4.7 out of 5 stars - it has the highest rating in the Zillertal.

The world-famous Hochzillertal/Hochfügen ski resort is just 2 km from our hotel. And that means going up to 2,500 m for skiers, carvers and boarders! Every Wednesday and Friday, there’s night skiing with artificial snow-covered and illuminated descent into the valley. The snowboard run with fun park, panoramic high-altitude cross-country trail at 1,800 m, own race track for ski races, cosy huts and mountain restaurants, and the Zwergerl Club, offering childcare for small children directly at the mountain station - Simply unique in the Zillertal. The famous crystal hut and “Wedelhütte” alpine hut are at home here.

The entire Zillertal ski area

The entire Zillertal ski area extends from Fügen with the Spielhochbahn and Hochfuegen over Hochzillertal/Hochfügen in Kaltenbach, which is only 2 km from our hotel. Then the Zillertal ski area stretches further on from the Zillertal Arena and Mayrhofen over the Ski and Glacier world Zillertal 3000 up to the Hintertux glacier. Overall, the Zillertal offers 489 kilometers of slopes and 177 lifts. With the interactive ski map, you can discover the entire ski area of the Zillertal.
